WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF CLINICAL PHARMACY
In 2010, the South African Society of Clinical Pharmacy (SASOCP) was formed in response to this resurgent interest in clinical pharmacy.
The objectives of SASOCP are:

To promote the practice of clinical pharmacy

To promote the interests of clinical pharmacists

To provide a platform for clinical pharmacists’ viewpoints and networking

To develop and provide clinical pharmacy practice guidelines

To provide clinical pharmacy continuing professional development and education

To enable clinical pharmacy capacity building in teaching and practice institutions
Through its branches, SASOCP achieves these objectives by continually organizing regular education meetings and workshops, as well as an annual conference in June every year. The society has nine active branches: Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West. We look forward to welcome you to become part of our growing organisation.

We take pride in staging meaningful events and exciting opportunities to learn and explore many aspects pertaining to the Pharmaceutical, Medical and Health professions.
International specialists and academics enthusiastically share their knowledge and experiences with our members. Regular workshops, and our annual Conferences have built a solid base of knowledge and friendships throughout South Africa and internationally.
CONSTITUTION
Pharmaceutical care and clinical pharmacy is a rapidly developing field for practicing pharmacists in South Africa.It started in the early 1990’s in South-Africa which has developed to where clinical pharmacy together with ward-based pharmacy are being implemented in several hospitals.
The South-African Society of Clinical Pharmacy (SASOCP) promotes specialist clinical pharmacists by working with the necessary statutory bodies and educational institutions both Nationally and Internationally.
SASOCP has developed a standard level of practice for clinical pharmacists, and to this effect these documents are available for all members to access.
National HIV & TB Hotline
Are you a healthcare worker in the field of HIV in SA?
We invite you to take part in a research study being run by the National HIV & TB HCW Hotline at the University of Cape Town (UCT) to understand knowledge of parts of the new ART guidelines.

We know you are extremely busy, but we’d appreciate your taking the time to help them with this anonymous short survey for healthcare workers. They are collecting this data to know whether you have received enough support and training about the new ART guidelines.
​
The survey data will be collected anonymously. There is an optional prize draw after completion (details stored separately from survey answers, to protect anonymity).
They hope to use the results to design interventions to assist healthcare workers and improve the transfer of important ART-related information to the patient.
